Research, creation, innovation and an interest in the new realities of printmaking lie at the core of our priorities. Presse Papier encourages an exploration and a deeper understanding of the multiple, printed image and thus aims at stimulating research and creation. Our numerous collective workshop projects are based on annual themes chosen by the members and the ensuing activities are often linked to the studio’s ideals of community and exchange. Artists’ books form an important part of the workshop’s group productions, and whether they be related to events like the Joutes (the jousts), the studio’s annual projects or dialogue with the artists in residence, they are one means of merging a wide range of visions.
The emergence of new approaches to printmaking takes a central place at Presse Papier, whose members include a numerous and dynamic younger generation who are well adapted to the new developments in contemporary printmaking. Fanzines, inter-disciplinarity and hybridity are at the creative hub of the printed image. Through its projects of creation and its exhibitions, Presse Papier is constantly striving to renew and develop its national and international networks.
The workshop is in the process of planning an award in memory of the artist Francine Turcotte. The award will highlight the creation of outstanding artists’ books.

In 2009 the Bourse Presse Papier was awarded to two graduates from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.
